It has now been a week since The Convention and it has taken me a while to adjust my thinking to normality. The Convention was fantastic; Joshua Jay and Andi Gladwin are to be commended for putting on one of the strongest line-ups I have experienced in a long time.
Mastery in Magic is all about associating with like minded individuals; people who have set a high standard for themselves and their work. The Session Convention featured an extraordinary collection of individuals from a wide and diverse magical background. The highlight of the convention was the extraordinary Dani DaOrtiz.
Dani comes from southern Spain and his mentor for magic is the great Juan Tamariz. His work features an wonderful mixture of sleight of hand, psychology, audience management and an infectious joy of life. It would be near impossible to describe his work because I cannot pin point any one effect that stood out for me. What I can say is that Dani's work is magical, memorable and stunning to the senses. He is living proof that who you associate with can have an impact on your magic greater than you can realise.
The Mastering Magic Seminar has been designed to create an environment where magicians can learn in a supportive environment and come away inspired to raise their standard.
I hope, if you read this blog post, you will consider joining me for a magical afternoon on Saturday 5th May.
Until the next posting.
